Dean Lives. Today I wore my James Dean shirt to the mall. While walking through
JCPenney, I noticed an older lady had started following me. I stopped. She
approached and said, “I just had to come over and tell you, I can’t believe
you’re wearing a James Dean shirt! I saw you, and started to cry, because
I knew you probably don’t even know who he is.”
I said, “What?! Not know Jimmy?! Of course I know him, I love him!”
After that, the two of us started to fangirl together . She was in her 70’s, I
was 22, but we were united by Dean.
Standing there, I couldn’t help thinking of something he once said: ‘If a
man can bridge the gap between life and death, if he can live on after
he’s dead, then maybe he was a great man .’
Yes, Jimmy you are. Those five minutes of my life are living proof.
And to make it even better, when I mentioned Elvis to her, she told me,
with her hands clasped over her heart, not to even speak his name
because she would fall on the floor.
We then spent five more minutes, talking about the precious Presley
wiggle…
